Short Stories

Lee Hollis

The Master of Spoken Punk Rock strikes back!

(…) Strategy For Victory ist wie Hollis’ vorhergehende Veröffentlichung höchst unterhaltsame Punkrock-Literatur.« (Ox)

»Hollis is angry, sometimes mean, he uses swear words and packt ein wenig deutsch dazwischen. He appears not so happy but is a lot of times. What else can I say, new book from Lee, same high quality writing and good Spass.« (Trust)

Auszug aus “Slave Blood”:

In the past if someone would ask me where I come from, I would lie to them and say “Texas”. I lied because I have no problem with lying and Texas is a pretty big lie to tell. And lying is fun anyway. If you asked how old I am, I’d say “25”. And if you asked how old I really am, I’d say “Oh okay, I’m 325.” So lying is cool.

The truth however, is that I was born in Alabama ...

And I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking about that fucking song, aren’t you? The one I hate so much. Now, I might be a liar, but one of the biggest lies ever told is called “Sweet Home Alabama” from Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Skynyrd is that band that still exists today even though all but one of them died in a plane crash back in the 70s. Don’t know how they do that ...

EVERY TIME. Every time, without fail, some asks me “Where you come from?” and I say “Alabama”. And EVERY TIME the person I’m talking to just seems to turn DUMB, just like that. (Finger snap) Their face goes slack, a little spit drips out of the side of their mouth and a small retarded giggle is always followed by the only remark that their tiny little brains can think of ...

“Hehe ... ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ ... hehe ...”
